The annual Diversity Awards Dinner is a major part of the celebration that champions individuals and businesses from across diverse origins in the Northeast. The awards recognize rewards and enhance the contributions of individuals and organizations to the local community. This event will take place on Friday 4th November 2011 from 7-11pm at the Wynyard Rooms, Wynyard Park, Billingham.

The Diversity Award already has notable sponsors including the Department of Health Tees Primary Care Trust, NESMP, TUC and Inspirational Arts.

CDA NE 2011 Awards Categories:

 Business Contribution Award: An individual or organisation within the BME, Refugee or New communities who has contributed to the economy of the North East

 Art Award: An individual or organisation whose aims have been to support, celebrate and promote the development of arts within the BME, Refugee and New communities.

 Education Award: An individual or organisation who has been supportive of development of BME, Refugee and New communities children in the areas of education.

 Diversity & Inclusion Champion (Organisation): An organisation who champions equality and diversity in their community, creating awareness, improving engagement and retention of people from diverse groups.

 Best Woman Networker (Sandy Richardson Award): A woman that has been supportive of BME, Refugee and New communities’ women in the North East.

 Service to Young People Award: An individual or organisation who has made a valuable contribution to the development of youths in the North East.

 In line with progress (ILWP) Volunteering Award : An individual who has dedicated his or her time to helping/supporting others or taken the necessary steps to enrich their lives voluntarily within the BME, Refugee and New communities.

 Science Achievement Award: An individual or organisation within the BME, Refugee and New communities who has excelled in the field of Science.

 Young Community Achiever of the Year Award: A young person in the BME, refugee or New communities who has excelled in a chosen field e.g. sports, academics, arts etc.

 Support for the BME Community Award: An individual or organisation in the public sector that has made outstanding contributions to the North East BME, Refugee and New communities.

 Contribution to Health Award: An individual or organisation in the public sector who has made an outstanding contribution to health within the BME, Refugee and New communities in the North East.
